Gold Data 1 Submarine Cable a game changer for Mexico’s fast-growing innovators

Gold Data, a leading multinational technology company with an award-winning network, is proud to announce the construction of the first cable system in the Gulf of Mexico. This system will connect Miami and Apalachee Bay in Florida with strategic points in Mexico: Mexico City, Cancun, and Queretaro.

This will be the first cable to land in Mexico in 22 years. This new Mexico-United States digital highway will offer the bandwidth capacity and quality of service required by the market. It will also play a key role in meeting the growing demand for data in Mexico. The system's advanced topology network will revolutionize connectivity in Mexico by reducing latency by up to 35%.

This is crucial for businesses and content providers who need reliable, low-latency, and high-quality connectivity.

The first to reach Mexico City in 22 years, the cable system will play a key part in empowering the fast-growing Mexico data market, as its state-of-the-art topology network will revolutionize Mexico’s connectivity by reducing latency by up to 35%.

This is key for enterprises and content providers which need reliable, low latency, high quality connectivity.

The Investment

This $200 million investment is the third and final phase of Gold Data’s network expansion in Mexico. It will complement the company’s low-latency underground network, which interconnects the country’s most important Data Centers, including Querétaro, Mexico City, Veracruz, and Cancún.

 The Route

The Gold Data 1 Submarine Cable will connect Mexico and Florida with 1,899 linear kilometers of cable from Veracruz, Mexico to Apalachee Bay in Florida, USA. The cable will also have a fiber branch to Cancún, Mexico.

The Design

The cable is designed for a capacity of 250Tb/s (25 Tbps per Fiber Pair).

The Timeline

The construction time is estimated at 31 months with a delivery date in 2026. The lifespan of the cable will be 25 years.
